The Silver Coins Story
Once there was a girl whose father and mother had died. She had no home. All she had were the clothes she was wearing and a tattered sheet to protect herself from cold. She had to be content with the leftovers that some neighbors gave her out of pity. She often cried sitting under a tree in the park where she lived.
One day, she decided to go to the nearby city to find some work and earn a living. She had only a loaf of bread with her. While she was walking down, she met an old man who looked very hungry. He asked her for food. She was a kind girl, and without thinking of what she would eat, she gave her bread away. The old man ate the bread, blessed her and went away. As the girl moved further, she found a little child shivering with cold. She took pity and gave away her sheet to the little child. The child smiled as he felt some warmth and thanked her. The girl kept on walking until it was dark.
As she stood in the darkness of the night, hungry and shivering in the cold, a few stars fell from the sky. She was surprised to see them turn into silver coins. Awestruck, she collected the coins but there was yet another surprise awaiting her. She looked down to find herself wearing a pretty dress of the finest linen. Her joy knew no bounds. God had blessed her for her kindness. She came back to her city and was not poor anymore.
