Old-Age
Once there was a very old man whose eyes had become weak, his ears dull of hearing, his knees and hands brittle. When he sat at the table to eat, he could hardly hold the spoon. So he spilt the broth upon the table cloth or let it run out of his mouth. His son and his son’s wife were very angry at this. One day they said, “Now you have become old. You must sit and eat alone.” So the old man had to sit in the corner behind the stove, and they gave him his food in an earthenware bowl. old age stories, old age peoples stories, old age home stories, old people stories, stories of old people, older women stories, short stories for older adults, old age short story, old book stores, old story, my old people’s stories, funny old people stories, old man story, short stories about old people, old people telling stories, old folk stories, short stories about old age, old people stories in hindi, stories of old, stories about old people, stories about old age, funny stories about old age, old short stories, funny stories about old people, funny old stories, age old story,

Most of the time, he used to look towards the table with his eyes full of tears. Once, his trembling hands could not hold the bowl. It fell to the ground and broke. The daughter-in- law scolded him, but he said nothing and only sighed. Then they bought him a wooden bowl out of which he had to eat. The family was once sitting for dinner. The little four ear old grandson began to gather some bits of wood upon the ground. “What are you doing there?” asked the grandfather.

“I am making a little bowl,” answered the child, “for father and mother to eat from when they are old.” The man and his wife looked at each other for a while, and began to cry out of shame. Then they took the old grandfather to the table, and made him sit there with respect. From that day onwards, they always let him eat with them, and never said anything if he spilt a little of anything.
