Shri Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi was born on 2nd October, 1869 at Porbandur in Gujarat. Gandhiji received higher education in England and there also he remained as a pure vegetarian.
When he completed his studies, he returned to his country and worked as a lawyer. He went back to South Africa where he took part in the non- co-operation movement of the Indians and other people of Asiatic Origin. He was arrested along with his wife.

Gandhiji started taking part in the non-co-operation movement against the British. He had started the famous Dandi March. Gandhiji was arrested many times and stayed in jail.
