Anne was a poor and lonely girl who lived with her mother in a little house. Her mother worked in other people’s homes to earn a living. They never had enough food to eat or good clothes to wear. Every day, an ice cream man would pass by her house but Anne had no money to buy one.
She looked at the other children licking large cones of ice cream and wished she could be one of them. One day, the ice cream man took pity on her and gave her a bowl full of ice cream. He said, “This is a magic bowl. You can ask it to make any kind of ice cream. You only have to say ‘start’. And when you want it to stop, you must say, ‘stop now,” so it became an everyday routine. The girl and her mother began enjoying delicious flavours of ice cream. One day, while Anne was away at school, her mother asked the bowl to make some ice cream.
The bowl started doing so. But she did not know how to stop it, so the bowl went on making ice cream. Soon, the whole house was filled with ice cream. The ice cream began to flow out of the house. When Anne returned and saw ice cream everywhere, she had to lick her way to home and stop it! Everyone living near Anne’s house also enjoyed the ice cream.
